Kern County Health Care and Benefits Two Day Training on Work and Disability

Disability Benefits 101 (DB101) will lead a two-day training on Work and Disability in Bakersfield on April 16-17.

Training Goal

Training participants, who will use a computer lab in this two day training, receive in-depth knowledge of how youth and adults with a disability access and retain needed benefits after paid work begins. Click hereAdobe Acrobat Document to download the training reservation flier and information.

Case Studies using DB101 Benefits Planning Calculators will show when and how paid work affects health care and benefits such as SSI. We train with Benefits Calculators available now on DB101Enlace externo.

We will review public and private health and income support programs, including Medi-Cal's 250% California Working Disabled Program and In-Home Supportive Services, as these programs work with available employment and vocational services. The two day training offers updates on new rules including the 2008 relaunch of Social Security's Ticket to Work Program later this year.
